Spinelli drives for the environment

Aware that the automotive industry can generate a significant amount of waste, Spinelli has implemented initiatives to help protect the environment.

For more than a decade, we have implemented recuperation systems in each of our dealerships allowing the recycling of tires, used oils, liquids, filters, metal, plastic and paper.

Paper and cardboard recycling

Spinelli has made recycling bins available to our employees in each facility. In addition, we have asked our suppliers to submit their invoices to us electronically.

Waste oil recycling

Spinelli has used oil tanks, which are then recovered, transformed and returned in such a way as to minimize damage to the environment.

Waste oil is oil that has become contaminated after use.

Through use and wear of the properties, waste oil can no longer continue to perform at its best. This is the case for engine lubricants, hydraulic fluids, liquids for metalworking, insulating fluids, and coolants. Motor lubricants represent 45% of all recoverable oil.

One litre of oil contaminates one million litres of water.

In Quebec, roughly 30 million litres of waste oil are not recovered by certified collectors. In addition, this unaccounted oil can be burned without supervision or control, and subsequently can end up in sewer systems.

Spinelli offers its customers at every one of its dealerships the opportunity to transfer their waste oil in specific tanks designated for the purpose of recovery.

Water-based paint at our body shops

The two Spinelli body shops have been using solvent-free water-based paint since March 2008. This product is not only better suited to monitoring environmental protection but also less inconvenient for the employees who use it.

Collecting batteries

Spinelli ensures that used batteries are stored in a safe place before they go to the manufacturer's recycling facilities.

Parts washing

For the washing of parts, Spinelli uses an alternative to traditional solvents that guarantees the removal of oil and grease thanks to the action of bioremediation. Preferred to hazardous mineral solvents, safer and just as effective, our parts washing solution reduces the health risks as well as the discomfort associated with the frequent disposal of waste.

Collection and recycling of used tires

Spinelli has chosen Recycle-Québec for the collection of used tires. This eco-responsible partner sends the tires to recycling facilities specializing in rubber processing.

Electronic rust proofing system

Spinelli recommends and installs an advanced environmentally friendly electronic rust proofing system that will protect the vehicles against rust damages.

Recycling of electronic components

Spinelli ensures that all obsolete or defective electronic components (computers, cell phones, printers, monitors, etc.) are sent to recycling or reconditioning facilities.
